App Attack!

Here at Nora and The Raptor we've been particularly enjoying A History of Horror with Mark Gatiss on the wonderful BBC4. Last weeks episode of the series focused on 1960s and 1970s horror, Hammer Films in particular, and afterwards The Brides of Dracula was shown. After watching the film I decided to search the App Store on my iPhone to see if there were any decent horror based apps and to my surprise I found two!

The Art of Hammer.

(L-R: Italian poster for Dracula, Belgian poster for The Hound of The Baskervilles, American poster for The Curse of The Werewolf)

 Hammer Glamour.

(L-R: Susan Denberg with Peter Cushing in Frankenstein Created Woman, Raquel Welch in One Million Years BC, Ingrid Pitt with Madeline Smith in The Vampire Lovers.)

The apps, Hammer Art and Hammer Glamour by Titan Publishing, are free of charge and give previews of the pictures in the newly released books. They don't do anything as such apart from show you a preview but if you swipe the screen from top to bottom it reveals information about each picture. With Hammer Art you get a picture of Christopher Lee as Dracula as the app icon  so it's surely worth downloading for that alone! I suppose they did what they are aimed to do though as I have added both books to my Amazon wish list!
