Nora and The Raptor's Musical Advent Calendar - Days 8 - 15

Hello folks! We've been a bit slack with this whole musical advent thing haven't we? With good reason, of course! Karina got snowed in at her boyfriends and I've been ill. Let's not focus on the bad but on the good! Christmas is less than two weeks now! Woo hoo! Presents are accumulating under the tree, cards have been sent, and next week I shall be icing my cake!

So, with a week's worth of songs to catch up on I figured it was time to update about my favourite Christmas album of all time: A Christmas Gift for You from Phil Spector.

Now, ol' Phil... well, we know about Phil. The less said about that the better really. I shall tell you why this album is my favourite Christmas album. When I was a child my Mum had this album on cassette and she would play it when she was making mince pies, icing the cake, or prepping the veg for the big day. I only ever remember her playing it in the kitchen. Every single song on this album has a place in my childhood Christmas memories. All the other songs we've posted are awesome, and the ones we'll continue posting until Christmas Eve will be awesome BUT no other Christmas songs make me as excited about Christmas as this album. I've listened to plenty of other Christmas songs so far this year but I'm saving this album until I get on with the task of icing my cake. I've made a small Christmas cake before but this year I've made a proper one that I shall be icing and decorating with, of course, kitsch plastic figures. You can expect pictures!

To catch up I'm going to post the whole album that someone has kindly uploaded in three parts. And before we part for the day many congratulations to Darlene Love, who is featured on this album and sang many Spector songs, who is about to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!
